The availability of publicly available biological data has skyrocketed during the past decade, providing a wealth of information on climate, environment, and ecology. These data are a potential gold mine for undergraduate students to ask and answer questions about the world and how it is changing. Our goal is to build a Research Coordination Network focusing on the incorporation of online, publicly-available data sources into undergraduate biology education in Alaska. With a thematic focus on Alaska’s Changing Environment, we aim to facilitate access to data and develop online teaching modules for online undergraduate inquiry and research projects at levels from non-majors to seniors.
